James Calkin married 17.02.1798.
I would think from the marriage date below that the date above is the reported date afterwards.
The marriage date is confirmed by the Derby Mercury dated Thursday 22nd February 1798 because it says,
"Marriage: On Tuesday se'nnight at Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Mr. James Calkin of Stafford to Miss Mary ellis of the former place."
(se'nnight is an olde English term for a week - as in a short form of "seven nights")

In 1866 Sarah received a letter from her nephew in South Africa, Ellis Varnam Calkin.
This excellent letter decribes emigration, life and contact with South Africa admirably.
It also addresses Sarah as "Miss", living at 39, Stafford Street, Longton, Staffs.
