The 1841 census lists Henry, wife Alice and children Harriet (aged 2) and James (10 months) living at Canal Bridge, Stone, Staffordshire.
Henry's occupation is listed as "Painter".
In 1851 his occupation is "Painter and Glazier", as can be seen on son George's birth certificate.
The 1861 census has Henry (aged 45 ?) living with his wife and five children at 41, Stafford Street, Longton.
Henry's occupation is given as "House Painter".
         Born: 30.08.1811 in Staffordshire

         Married: 21.08.1837 to Alice Fradley at Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
         Died: c. 12.1874 Aged 63, registered in Stone.

Daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Fradley
The 1861 census lists Alice (aged 44) living with her husband as above.
Her occupation is listed as "Painter's Wife".
         Born: 03.05.1816 at Stone, Stafford
         Died: c. 09.1866 Aged 50, registered in Stoke-on-Trent

The very first Calkin entry in the 1837 birth register.
NOT in the 1861 census at the family home, but as aged 24 probably moved away.
         Born: c. 09.1837 registered in Stone.
Harriet
The 1861 census has Harriet (aged 22) living with her parents as above.
      Her occupation is listed as "Dressmaker".
The 1871 census has Harriet living with her husband and family at Trentham Road, Trentham, Staffs.
      Her sister Sarah Calkin (15) is also staying with her at the time of the census.
The 1881 census has Harriet, her husband, nine children living at Trentham Road, Trentham, Staffs.
      Her sister Sarah Calkin (25) still lives with her, and also niece Alice (aged 2).
      Harriet and her husband are both listed as being, "Fish and Fruit Salesmen".
         Baptised: 04.07.1838 at St. Michael, Stone, Stafford
         Married: 14.07.1862 to Thomas Stubbs (b. 1838 to George Stubbs) at Bucknall, Stafford

The 1871 census has Mary Bowyer (aged 28) living with her husband and two children at 70, Bethesda Street, Shelton, Hanley
Her occupation is given as "Painter". Her husband as "Labourer".
The 1891 census has Mary Bowyer (aged 49) living at 12, Roberts Road, Stoke Upon Trent, Hanley.
She has no other family living with her, just one William Edward (aged 43) a Cabdriver of Tunstall, Staffs.
         Baptised: 23.04.1843 at St. Michael, Stone, Stafford
         Married: 30.10.1865 to Joseph Bowyer (a Furnace Man b.1845 in Hanley) at the Parish Church in Edensor, Stafford

Sue Cockburn-Bowyer, great-granddaughter of Joseph (Jnr), reported to me that
Joseph Bowyer (Jnr) died, a decorated army officer, in the first world war aged 50 in 1917.

The 1881 census has his occupation declared as "Carter",
Living at 8, Malt Lane, Stoke-on-Trent, with his wife and first-born son.
         Baptised: 04.05.1845 at St. Michael, Stone, Stafford
         Married: 26.01.1873 to Mary Ann Waring at Fenton, Staffordshire
         Died: c. 03.1890 Aged 44, registered in Stoke-on-Trent.
George Ellis
The 1861 census has George (aged 10) living with his parents as above.
His occupation is given as "Scholar".
The 1881 census has George living with his wife Martha and four eldest children at Kilner Bank, Kirkheaton, York.
Occupation in 1881 census = "Wood Labourer (Machinist)"
The 1901 census has George living with his wife Martha and four youngest children at 100 Almondbury Bk, Huddersfield.
Occupation in 1901 census = "Labourer (Wood Yard)"
         Born: 21.03.1851 at Hoon's Gard, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
         Married: c. 1868 ? to Martha, no marriage registration found.
         Died: c. 12.1910 Aged 59, registered in Huddersfield.
Sarah Elizabeth
The 1861 census has Sarah (aged 5) living with her parents as above.
The 1871 census has Sarah (aged 15) living with her married sister Harriet Stubbs and her family above.
The 1881 census has Sarah (aged 25) still living with her married sister Harriet Stubbs and her family above.
         Born: c. 12.1855 at Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
         Died: c. 12.1898 Aged 42, registered in Stoke-on-Trent.
