In the 1861 census Henry Calkin is the head of the only Calkin Family in Nottingham.
We know Henry was an instrument maker in London to 1854, so sometime between 1854 and 1861 he must
have moved with his family to Nottingham and started a Calkin conclave in that region.
The 1861 census has Henry with his wife and four children living at 217, Mount Street, Nottingham.
Henry's occupation is listed in the census as "Publican" and Eleanor as "Publican's Wife", but we don't
know the name of the pub ... at the moment.
Living with the family is a "house servant" named Jane Walker (b.1842) from Kemberly.

         Married: 25.12.1844 to Eleanor Carter at Hampstead
         Died: c. 12.1866 Aged 43, registered in Nottingham
Calkin (nee Carter), Eleanor
Daughter of Charles Carter, Solicitor, who died c.1844.
In the 1861 census Eleanor is listed living with her husband above as a "Publican's Wife".
In the 1871 census Eleanor, 43, is living at Arkwright Street, St.Mary, Nottingham with children Oscar and Robert.
Her profession is listed as "Housekeeper" and her birthplace as Middlesex.
She has taken in three boarders.
         Born: c. 1823 at ?
There is an Eleanor who married in Nottingham in 12.1877, could it be this Eleanor re-marrying after her husband's death ?

Henry
The 1861 census has Henry living with his parents above as a "Scholar".
The 1871 census has Henry living at 22, Pierrepons Street, St. Mary, Nottingham with his wife and son.
His occupation is listed as "Carpenter".
         Born: 15.04.1847 at 80, Pratt Street, Camden Town.
         Married: c. 09.1870 to Mary Ann Riley (b.1844), registered in Nottingham.
It looks like Mary Ann re-married in 03.1877 after Henry's early death.
         Died: c. 03.1876 Aged 28, registered in Lincoln.
Charles
The 1861 census has Charles living with his parents above as a "Scholar".
The 1881 census he is declared as "Publican, of 31, Mount Street, Nottingham".
Also living on the premises:
Rose Broadhurst (aged 23) - Lace Finisher
Harry Broadhurst (aged 21) - Printer.
Charles does not appear in the 1901 census, nor can I locate a death index entry, BUT
There is an Eliza, born 1854, living as a boarder at 50, Gordon Road, Nottingham.
And an Eliza who died in Nottingham 12.1915 Aged 58 ?
         Born: c. 12.1848 registered in St. Pancras.
         Married: c. 09.1877 to Elizabeth Savage (b. 1854), registered in Nottingham
Oscar
The 1861 census has Oscar living with his parents above as a "Scholar".
The 1871 census lists Oscar, aged 16, living with his mother as above.
Occupation is declared as "Timekeeper".
The 1881 census has Oscar and family living at 22, Queens Grove, Nottingham.
Occupation as declared in the 1881 census = "Cab Driver".
The 1901 census has Oscar and family living at 13, Paxton Street, Nottingham.
Occupation as declared in the 1901 census = "Cab Driver".
         Born: 19.07.1854 at 6, Emma Place, Kensington
         Married: c. 12.1873 to Harriet Elliott at Great Retford
         Died: c. 03.1920 Aged 66, registered in Nottingham.
Robert
The 1861 census has Robert living with his parents above as a "Scholar" ... aged 3.
The 1871 census lists Robert, aged 13, living with his mother as above.
Occupation is declared as "Scholar" and place of birth as Hammersmith.
         Born: c. 06.1857 registered in Kensington.
