There is an entry in the London Gazette dated 30.05.1919 which may be Herbert, it mentions Sergeant H.G. Calkin (64662) of the 14th Battalion (Dulwich) Machine Gun Corps. On 29th March 1926 Herbert Gurth Calkin of "Balgowan" Stoneleigh Drive, Worcester Park, Surrey purchased some land in St. Albans off of Albert Walter Mills (the vendor). He had a four bedroom character house designed by a local architect (John C. Rogers) and subsequently built as 16, Park Avenue. The property was featured in "Country Life" of 17th September 1927. |
