Calkin, Thomas Youngest of 3 children born to Henry and Mary Ann Occupation in 1901 census declared as "Potters Slipmaker", living with his mother at 139, Normacot Road, Longton, Staffs. In the 1911 census Thomas (aged 26) is listed living with his brother Henry's family at the same address. His occupation is listed as "Slip Maker Potters". In the 1921 census Thomas (aged 37) is listed living with his wife and four children at 2, Bagnall Street, Longton, Stoke On Trent. His occupation is listed as "Assistant SlipMaker" working at Collingwood Brothers, Potting Manufacturers in Clayton Street, Longton. Also in the same return his mother-in-law Elizabeth Kirkland (aged 63) and brother-in-law Charles Kirkland (aged 32) are staying with Thomas's family. The 1939 register has Thomas living with his wife (widowed ?!?) and nine other family members at 37 South Walk, Stoke-on-Trent. His occupation is given as "Firewood Dealer".

Calkin (nee Kirkland), Annie Lilian In the 1921 census Annie (aged 29) is listed on her husbands return as above. But there is another daughter listed. Listed as Annie Kirkland b.1914 aged 6. The 1939 register has Annie (b.1891) living with Thomas as above, confusingly listed as "Widowed" ?. Perhaps she was born before they married and took the mothers surname. The 1939 register has Annie Groom (Kirkland). (the mystery daughter ?) living with Thomas as above. Her birthday listed as 16.08.1914.

Quite oddly, although this family had nine children, the family line appears to end here.
Seven daughters, a boy that died very young, and for the only likely supplier of a line, Thomas,
