Soon dropped "Julian" and took preferred name as "Charles Frederick". 1901 census has Charles living at 31, Waghorn Street, Camberwell with his wife, Kate, and sister-in-law Eliza Downing. 1911 census has Charles (aged 46) living with his wife Kate and five children at 55, New Church Road, Camberwell. His occupation is listed as "Paperhanger". 1921 census has Charles (aged 56) living with his wife Kate and six children at 11, Bowyer Street, Camberwell.
