Calkin, Ernest Youngest of 4 children born to Frederick and Elizabeth 1871 census lists Ernest aged 4, living with his parents above. 1881 census gives Ernest's occupation as "Errand Boy". 1901 census lists Ernest's occupation as "Engine Driver Stationary (?)", living at 3, Nepean Terrace, Bushey Mead, Merton, Surrey, with wife Ada, two children Rhoda and Sophia and his mother Elizabeth. 1907 birth certificate of son Edward has Ernest's occupation as "Mechanical Engineer (Journeyman)", living at 16, Hurlbutt Place, Newington, Southwark. 1911 census lists Ernest (aged 43) living with his wife and five children at 16, Hurlbutt Place, Walworth, Newington South. His occupation is given as "Laundry Engineer". 1915 baptism records of Edward, Elizabeth and John has Ernest's occupation as "Laundry Engineer", living at 16, Hurlbutt Place, Newington, Southwark.

Calkin (nee Griffin), Ada Isabel 1911 census lists Ernest's wife as "Ada Sophia" ? Everywhere else she is listed as Ada Isabel. Note that one daughter is given both names, so maybe Ada had them too. 1921 census has Ada now widowed and as head of family and still living at 16, Hurlbutt Place, Newington, Southwark SE17. Her occupation is given as Moss Room Attendant, working for Messrs Sharwood & Co in Offley Road, Brinton.

Sophia Isabel The 1911 census lists Sophie Isabell (aged 11) living with her parents as above. The 1921 census lists Sophie Isabell (aged 21) living with her mother as above, Her occupation is given as Book Sewer, for Haddens & Best Co, at 5 West Harding Se Fitter Lane

Adeline Cora Adeline's baptism record has her parents listed as living at 16, Dorren Road, Merton. The 1911 census lists Adeline Cora (aged 8) living with her parents as above. When married to Stuart they lives at: 16 Hurlbutt Place, Southwark. The 1921 census lists Adeline Cora (aged 19) living with her mother as above, Her occupation is given as Brush Maker, for Mr. Haddleton, at 34, Temple Street, Southwark. Also on the census is what must be a work colleague, one Willsey McDonald (b.1901) from Inverness also a Brush Maker.
