1871 census lists Walter aged 8, living with his grandparents in High Road, Finchley.

Occupation as declared in 1881 census - "Clerk".
In the London Gazette of 1st April 1892 there is a notice of partnership of 31st March 1892 between Walter and Alfred Tegner
that they have a partnership of Ship and Insurance Brokers based at 107, Fenchurch Street in the City of London.
Walter's address as listed in Historical Directories include:
1896 - 44, Narcissus Road, Hampstead.
Occupation as declared in 1901 census = "Ship Broker".
1901 census shows Walter living at Greenhill Lodge, Harrow, with his wife and six children.

1903 Walter bought shares in Great Western Railway as can be seen in the index of shareholders.
1911 census has Walter (age 48) living with his wife and five children at 41, Redington Road, Hampstead.
His occupation is given as "Steamship Broker".
The 1911 census also shows three servants :

Margaret Bettesworth (b.1886) - Children's Maid

1914-1919 all at 41, Redington Road, Hampstead N.W.3
Incidentally, no. 41 is right on the corner of Heath Drive, Hampstead where his brother Harry Bernard lives.
In published vessel passenger lists, Walter is listed as travelling from Liverpool to Hong Kong in 1936 with his daughter Janet.

In published vessel passenger lists, Janet is listed as travelling from Liverpool to Hong Kong in 1936 with her father.
At her death Janet was listed as a Spinster of 87, Oatlands Drive, Weybridge, Surrey.

George Riviere
1901 census shows George living at Greenhill Lodge, Harrow, with his parents.
There are entries in the London Gazette for George Riviere Calkin :
02.04.1915 - To be 2nd Lieutenant (late a Cadet of Repton School contingent) of the 8th (Cyclist) Battalion, Essex Regiment.
12.02.1917 - To be temp. Lieutenant on 4th December 1916.
24.08.1917 - To be Lieutenant from 3rd June 1917.
24.01.1919 - Granted the acting rank of Captain on 20th November 1918.
05.05.1919 - Made Vice Lieutenant 22nd November 1918.
At the time of son Nigel's death, George and his wife were living in Hinchley Wood, Esher

Charles Daniels, grandson of Winfred Muriel Calkin is a chorister and choral scholar of King's, Cambridge.
He performs in opera, festivals and solo performances all over the world and regularly at Promenade Concerts.
Charles is much in demand as the Evangelist in Bach's Passions.
His many recordings include over 20 discs of Purcell and the much acclaimed recording of Messiah with
Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort.
Any brief search on the web will reveal many pages on Charles and his works.
