Calkin, Antaeus Busirus Sixth of nine children born to Samuel and Louisa Started career as Compositor for the Northern Advocate, Whangarei. Later managed the Billiards Saloon next door to the Coffee Palace from here he became a local billiards champion. After leaving the Billiards Saloon, he built a home in Morningside Road, Whangarei During World War I Antaeus was listed as being in the Second Reserves, with a last address of Cameron Street, Whangerei For 13 years he was then a member of the staff of New Zealand Railways. |
