His occupation is given as "Master Stevedore".
The 1881 census has Henry living with his wife and three children at 3, Custom Street, West Ham.
His occupation is given as "Stevedore".
The 1891 census has Henry living with his wife and nine children at 13, Albert Road, West Ham. His occupation is given as "Foreman Stevedore".
The death certificate of his wife has Henry shown as a Licensed Victualler.
His premises would have been The Pigott Arms, 1, East India Road, Limehouse.

         Born: c. 1853 in Limehouse, registered in ?

         Married: c. 12.1875 to Rosina D'Alverez, registered in Stepney (1c 1037)

         Died: ? Aged ?, registered in ?.

Butler (nee Alvarez), Rosina Hannah
The marriage entry looks more like Alvrey, or Alvey, although my sister had researched it as D'Alverez ....
But, there are NO Alverez's at all in the index, altho there are some Alvarez's.
The 1876 birth certificate of their first son below, Henry James, shows her name as Rosina Hannah Alvarez.
In the 1881 census Henry's wife is listed as Rosina, in the 1891 census as Rosanna.
Death index entry of first quarter 1901 states name as Rosannah and age of 44.
But, in saying all that, after searching the 1871 census I am fairly convinced that
Rosina was born as Anna Alvarez in St. George in the East, daughter of Joseph Alvarez of Spain and his wife .... Rose.
My sister's research revealed that Joseph Alvarez was a chemist who lived in Poplar.
It is also said that Senor Alvarez had to leave Spain "rather quickly".
