Nine Children         The "Staffordshire Advertiser Index to Births, Marriages and Deaths 1795-1820" has the following entry:         Miss Calkin married 2.03.1816.         It could quite likely be Mary below, but could just as likely be one of her sisters, Maria or Sarah.

Thomas ... a.k.a. Thomas Caulkin. IGI has birth and christening names listed as Calkin. All available evidence points very strongly that once young Thomas started fending for himself, his surname started to become spelt as "Caulkin". The 1841 census has Thomas Caulkin living with wife Sarah and four children at "Camphills", Maer, Staffordshire. His occupation is given as "Salt Dealer".

Samuel   (Kelkin) Samuel is another interesting ancestor, because somewhere along the line of moving to Birmingham he started spelling his name "Kelkin". What a pain, Samuel and his brother Joseph above both are ! So, if you are a Kelkin, this is the point your name came into being. In the 1841 census Samuel is listed as a "Porter". In the 1851 census Samuel is listed as a "Porter, Wine Merchant". In 1851 Samuel lived in Digbeth. In 1852 in Little Charles Street, Birmingham
