Family of Frederick George Calkin or ...
Robert Henry Joseph Calkin

This is a real mystery as there are cross-references to two people who seem to "share" the same family but are called two different names as one follows the clues from 1863 right through to 1946.
Culminating in the unusual (and quite frankly bizarre claim) that the original Frederick George fathered three children while in his 70's.
I personally think son Frederick George must be the father of the latter children.
This is a tangle which I will unravel, when I get round to it.

Calkin, Frederick George It is believed that F.G. may be a child of Alfred Thomas ... birth certificate has been ordered. The marriage certificate of his first wedding in 1895 has "Robert" living at 60, Newnham Terrace, Hercules Road, Lambeth. Occupation on the 1895 certificate is "Upholsterer (Joineryman)". Occupation as declared in 1901 census = "Shipwright". The 1901 census has Frederick living with his wife and three daughters at, 23, East Street, Sittingbourne, Kent. The 1911 census has Robert Henry Joseph (aged 46) living with wife Emily and four children at Nettlestead, Paddock Wood, Kent. His occupation is given as "Inspector Water Works". On Ellie May's marriage certificate of 1918, her father Frederick is listed as a "Water Inspector" The 1921 census has Frederick (aged 54) living with his wife Emily and two sons at High Street, Snodland, Kent. His occupation is given as "Water Inspector", working for Mill Kent Water Co. His birthplace is given as Paris, France - in 1867 ! The marriage certificate of son Reginald in 1929 has Fred's occupation as "Hotel Inspector". After his first wife Emily died in 1928, Frederick re-married in 1932 (aged "58" ... born 1874 ?) ... The marriage certificate of this second wedding "Frederick" living at High Street, Snodland. Frederick's father is listed as Alfred (deceased) a "Composer of Music". Occupation on the 1932 certificate is "Water Inspector". and in his 70's sired THREE children, the hops must be powerfully good in Kent !!

	Married:	17.04.1932	to Clara Nellie Woodhams, at All Saints, Snodland and registered in Maidstone.
	Died:	24.10.1946	Aged 85, at Copthorne, Snodland, registered in Maidstone. ("Copthorne" is now 33, High Street, Snodland)
Calkin (nee Champ), Emily Daughter of William (a bricklayers labourer) and Sarah Champ. The 1881 census has Emily (then aged 13) living with 3 brothers and 3 sisters at 42, Murston Road, Sittingbourne, Kent. The 1911 census has Emily (aged 44, born in Sittingbourne) living with Robert Henry as above. The 1921 census has Emily (aged 54, born in Sittingbourne) living with Frederick as above.

	Died:	04.06.1928	Aged 61, registered in Malling, buried in Snodland cemetery.
Calkin (nee Woodhams), Clara Nellie Daughter of James William Woodhams a plumber, living in the High Street.
	Born:	21.10.1907	registered in Maidstone, Kent.
	Died:	c. 03.2003	Aged 95, registered in Kent.

Eleanora (Born Eleanora Champ)
	Born:	c. 12.1890	in Sittingbourne, registered in Milton.
Dorothy Louise (born Dorothy Louise Champ) The 1911 census lists Dorothy Winifred Calkin (aged 15, born in London) as living with her parents Robert and Emily. Her occupation is given as "Domestic Servant". It certainly does appear that Dorothy Louise became Dorothy Winifred.

Elsie May The 1911 census lists Elsie May (aged 13, born in London) as living with her parents Robert and Emily. Her occupation is given as "at School". Elsie May's marriage certificate of 1918 lists father as Frederick, living in Snodland. It is reported that Elsie married twice, the second time to Bert Nunn. It is also said that Elsie died in Great Leighs, Essex and had no children.

Frederick George The 1911 census lists Frederick George (aged 9) as living with his parents Robert and Emily. The 1921 census has Frederick George (aged 19) living with his parents Frederick and Emily as above. His occupation is listed as "General Labourer" working for Lee Son and Co. B P C M at Halling.

Calkin, Reginald Alfred The 1911 census lists Reginald Alfred (aged 7) as living with his parents Robert and Emily. The 1921 census has Reginald Alfred (aged 17) living with his parents Frederick and Emily as above. His occupation is listed as "General Labourer" working for Mill Kent Gas Light & Coke Co. in Snodland. The marriage certificate of 1929 has Reginald's occupation as "Male Nurse", and address as 35, Chertsey Street, Tooting.

Derek James More recently listed as Gerald James or was there another son born in 1934 ?

	Married:	24.07.1971	to Eileen Ryan, in Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland.

	Born:	24.05.1940	at Copthorne, High Street, Snodland and registered in Malling.
	Married:	c. 12.1962	to Ann Marchant, registered in Maidstone.
	Died:	c. 09.1967	Aged 27, registered in Maidstone.
