Calkin, Ellis Third of 8 children born to George E. and Martha Calkin The 1911 census has Ellis (aged 33) living with his wife and three daughters at 210 Almondbury Bank, Almondbury, Huddersfield, Yorkshire. His occupation is listed as "Dyers Labourer". In World War I Ellis was a Private in the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment 2nd/5th Battalion Dying in 1917, he was buried at St. Hilaire Cemetery, Frevent, France (see below).

	Died:	9.09.1917	Aged 39, in World War I Unit: W.R.R. Number: 241355 Family memories are that he died as a soldier in France, but not in battle. A friend was cleaning a gun near him which went off and killed Ellis.

The 1921 census has Lilley (aged 20) living with her grandmother (Zillah Popplewell) at 3, Back Colne Terrace, Aspley, Huddersfield. Both of her parents had died by this time. Her occupation is listed as "Brush Machinist" working at C. Buckley & Co in Lowland Nr Als, Merfield

Kathleen Dorothy The 1911 census has Kathleen (aged 5) living with her parents as above. Her name is listed in the transcript as being "Ruthlan", but I think that may be a mis-reading ? The 1921 census has Kathleen (aged 15) living with her grandmother (Zillah Popplewell) at 3, Back Colne Terrace, Aspley, Huddersfield. Both of her parents had died by this time. Her occupation is listed as "Fancy Reg Linger" (?) working at Dyson Hall Ltd in Greenside Mills, Waterloo, Huddersfield

The 1921 census has Martha (aged 12) living with her grandmother (Zillah Popplewell) at 3, Back Colne Terrace, Aspley, Huddersfield. Both of her parents had died by this time. She is listed as being in full-time occupation at Post Church School (?)
