Hal Swain had a band in Toronto from 1921 to 1924 which included Dave Caplan. This band was offered a job at Rector's
club in London, but the club actually went bust during the course of the voyage. Fortunately, the group found another job at
the New Prince's Restaurant in Picadilly. In 1926 Hal Swain quit the band and the remaining band were offered a job in
Berlin. But only a few members of the original band wanted to go, this is where Arthur stepped in, joined the band and went
off to Berlin in August 1926 with the re-named Dave Caplan's Toronto Band. The above photograph was taken there.
They first played at the Faun Des Westens and then in November appeared at La Scala assisting the dance pair
Annette Mills and Bobby.
This was followed by a tour including Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Rumania.
The recording information below was sent to me by Mike Thomas.
